JAMAR ROGERS
New Orleans-born Jamar Rogers is an American singer/songwriter/producer whose sound encapsulates R&B, New Wave, Trap and New Jack Swing. Bridging the gap between old and new, Jamar’s music is Frank Ocean meets Otis Redding.
After competing on American Idol and becoming a finalist on NBC’s The Voice, Jamar signed to legendary Hip Hop label, Tommy Boy Entertainment, and released Lazarus, a critically-acclaimed project blending African rhythms and Gospel. Jamar suffered a crippling case of writer’s block for a year-and-a-half but came through the storm to present a new sound with a new energy. Togetherness, a song celebrating the beauty of a new relationship, was co-produced with South African producer, Tebogo Lekgau. Jamar calls it his “rebirth”.
Jamar has been featured in Rolling Stone, Us Weekly, USA Today, MTV, CNN. He was also a guest on Ellen, The Today Show, BET’s 106 & Park and The Root’s Top 100 Influential African-Americans. As an independent artist, he is holed up in his cave, working on more “wavy soul” music.
